The best time of year to visit as far as weather is concerned is December and January.
During holidays like Christmas and Easter, hotels can book up fast, so plan accordingly.
What to do in Guatemala
There are plenty of activities to do in Guatemala that range in price and activity level. From walking the Ruins of Tikal to bird watching, there’s something for everyone. If you are more geared toward adventure travel, there is no shortage of it here. Many adventurous travelers partake in such activities as mountain biking, cave exploration, hike, and snorkeling just to name a few.

For many, an organized vacation package is the best way to seethe country. Many choose to go with a US or UK based travel agency to setup and organize the trip. If you go this route, make sure to check out the details of the trip. Ask if taxes and tips are included. Ask if the airport departure tax is included as well. It also cant hurt to ask the names of the hotels you will be staying at and then researching them online on your own.
Since many US and UK tour agencies subcontract work out to Guatemala agencies, some thrifty travelers wait until they are in Guatemala to make travel arrangements. This is so they can save a few bucks by cutting out the middleman. While this will save you some money, you will still be paying a premium for organized travel plans.
